Toolmaking

At the Steinbach-Hallenberg (SH) and Schweina (S) locations, the Plastics Engineering Division of HWK produces high-tech thermoplastic parts for automobile construction, electrical engineering, electronics, and the domestic appliance industry

The Tool-making Division is organized as a profit centre. 80% of its capacities are for the open market, 20% cover internal requirements.

In recent years, the Division has developed wide-ranging competence in the design and construction of injection moulds for glossy polished and grained moulded parts with a design character and high-quality optics.

The main focus has been on designing and constructing tools for the production of automobile lighting systems.

The latest 3D measuring technology is used for geometric tests.

These cover 3D design with Pro-Engineer software and remote data transmission via ODETTE for all current data interfaces

The Tool-making Division of HWK offers a wide range of design and production solutions for high-precision injection moulds

Tools with a maximum clamping dimension of 1000 mm x 1000 mm and a weight of up to 3000 kg are produced with modern sinker and wire erosion technology and 5-axis machining centres.

In close collaboration with a number of partners, HWK also offers the coating of slide pairings and TiN coatings for glossy polished contour parts.
